I use pg_dump to write the database to a file, gzip to compress it, "mount ; cp ; umount" to get it to the remote site, then dropdb ; createdb ; gzip -d | psql -U ... -d ... to restore it. Note that the second copy is a write-irrelevant copy outside the firewall. > > You are looking at "almost real time backup", using rsync and nfs > through stunnel, and packet filtering firewalls that do NAT and > Masqerading for starters. Any attempt to use rsync will be ...bad. cheers, Rich. -- Rich Walker: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Shadow Robot Project) http://www.shadow.org.uk 251 Liverpool Road +44(0)171 700 2487 London N1 1LX "Sometimes after an electrical storm I see in 5 dimensions" -- Cornfed Pig, Duckman. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: OSDN - Tired of that same old cell phone?
