Please make a pg_dump from your data base first (you already did that, no?) and see the person who is in charge of setting up your account with the PostgreSQL data base that you need to use for production purposes. I don't know how to migrate a data set since I didn't have a need so far (1.8.7 is my first, and only in a testing stage), but I'd be surprised if you can work with a data base where you don't have the right to create a table, a view, a procedure/function(?), and a user.
