In fact, on page 7-9 it says the following:
"Two SQL Wildcards exist.
The percent sign (%) is a placeholder for zero or more characters.
The underscore character (_) is a placeholder for exactly one character."

Like I said, I just went thru the class last week, and every example we
created was done using Access.
