just \\ but \ + carriage return that is being truncated.
Why the heck is this happening? How can I get around it?

-- OUTPUT
my test verbiageand then some more verbiage\\ \some more yet\\ \\ \The end!
(it removed the \ and the cr)
WTH??? I am baffled!
