try running this kind of cfquery in MS SQL

<cfquery.....>
  <cfloop from=1 to="5" index="i">
    INSERT INTO blah;
  </cfloop>
</cfquery>

That's 5 SQL operations in 1 CFQUERY...and it will run...or am I 
misunderstanding you?
