Qualifications:

•     Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
•     Minimum of seven (7) years experience with MS SQL Server is required.  
•     Minimum of seven (7) years experience writing code for database access, 
modification and construction including Triggers, Stored Procedures, DTS and 
Indexing is required.
•     Demonstrated technical and leadership abilities involving participation 
in multiple complex projects.
•     Strong communication skills; ability to work independently and manage 
multiple priorities is required.
•     RDMS Certification in MS SQL is preferred; Oracle desired.
•     HMO or health related industry strongly preferred.

General Duties:

•     The SQL Database Administrator is responsible for the overall design 
and construction of data structures that support business application and 
decision support systems. 
•     Design, define and maintain data models within various computing 
environments (e.g., Unix, NT, intranet, Web). 
•     Analyze, test, and implement physical database design supporting 
various business applications (including base definition, structure, 
documentation, long-range requirements, and operational guidelines). 
•     Develop data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and space 
requirements for physical databases through formulation and monitoring of 
policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management. 
•     Responsibilities include determining user data requirements as well as 
the design, construction, testing and coordination of changes to data 
structures. Also responsible for creating database schemas and proposing 
database technology solutions that integrate with current business applications 
and hardware/software environment.  

Specific Duties:

•     Oversees the installation, configuration and upgrading of SQL or other 
server database software and related products.
•     Evaluation of all SQL or other server database related software 
products; making recommendations based on these evaluations.
•     Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures
•     Database design and implementation. This includes involvement in both 
logical and physical design for new as well as enhancements for existing 
databases. 
•     Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and 
roles, assign privileges)
•     Database tuning and performance monitoring
•     Interface with Microsoft and other server based database companies for 
technical support.
•     Provide general technical troubleshooting and consultation to 
development teams. 
•     Adapt to changing work priorities and a fast-paced environment while 
maintaining a professional attitude.
•     Maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with people both 
internally and externally as it relates to the operations and business.
•     Maintain confidentiality at all times.
•     Work independently on projects and ask for support when necessary.
•     Work additional hours as needed.  Production support on-call 
responsibilities.
•     Participate in training classes as outlined by the department, Human 
Resources and the Training department.
•     Suggest, support and participate in the quality initiatives undertaken 
by corporate.  
•     Suggest, support and influence programs within the department or 
company that refine systems and processes and improve overall performance.
•     The employee agrees to comply with Corporate Compliance Policy and all 
laws, rules, regulations and standards of conduct relating to the Corporate 
Compliance Policy and has a duty and obligation to report any suspected 
violations of any law, the standards of conduct or Corporate Compliance Policy 
to his or her immediate Supervisor, the fraud and abuse hotline, the Compliance 
Officer, the Compliance Director, Human Resources or the Chief Executive 
Officer.
