Our project is looking to cut a "release" in the next few weeks, and
we would like to use an official release of Elixir. Our code depends
on the python 2.3 hooks recently added, though. Are there current
plans to release 0.5.2?

Obviously, we could release with a dependency on 0.5.2dev, but my
project manager would prefer to release with official dependencies.

I don't see any blocking defects in trac. If there aren't any
unspoken outstanding issues, I suggest the trunk be released. Since I
don't know the details of what goes into an Elixir release, however,
I'll defer to the experts here. If there's anything I can do to
facilitate the process, I'm happy to help.

In this vein, I've gone through and updated the code so that the tests
succeed on Python 23, and I've added some tests to ensure the
correctness of the py23compat module.

I will attach the patch to this discussion group.

Regards,
Jason
