Ok, we are having increasingly more spam. I try to delete it as
quickly as possible, and ban the offending account (I guess most
spammers don't reuse the same account twice, but it can't hurt to ban
them). This of course doesn't prevent the message to go through to the
mailing list.

So, is it time to turn on moderation for new users? Or turn on the
"People can request an invitation to join" option instead of "anybody
can join"? I don't like those options, since it's one more barrier to
post for new users (those we especially *don't* want to loose), but I
won't want either to loose regular readers/contributers to this
mailing list because they consider there is too much spam. So the
question is: what is the amount of spam you guys are ready to handle
before you say this is too much and go away?

PS: if we do go on the moderating new users path, it would probably
help if more people were able to review moderated posts/new users, so
that the new users don't wait too long. Is there anybody interested to
lend a hand for that?
