I've seriously considered taking this off the list because this whole thread has turned retarded. People involved: read on if you actually feel like finding out why, and what you can do about it.
> Why not be a bit flexible, one of the tasks of an admin is to comfort > the users as much as he or she can. (Where did you get this idea?) .... Anyway, The _reason_ why not is outlined in that link. If you bothered to read it you would have your question answered. > Tell us which emailclients we should use, maybe we can learn from you, > do not forget, a part of sqlite-users is Windows-user, and sqlite is > also a Windows-product. > For me, I use Windows and Linux, as it comes. But I do not want to start > another computer just because I want to answer to a sqlite-list-email Where did anyone say which MUA to use? I'll be happy to flog them next, but I must have missed that. Where did anyone say that nobody on sqlite-users is using Windows? I'll be happy to laugh at them next, but I must have missed that. What I do see people saying is that you do not understand what you are asking for. I happen to agree with that, and apparently so did you. You've wanted to tell everyone providing resources and specification that they are rude and arrogant and ignoring "99%" of the members of this list, but you don't check your facts, and don't seem willing to stop. You want your "Reply" button to go to the list. Many people pointed out what was wrong with that, but I somehow got the idea that you actually just wanted a "button" to post to the list. That you (and others like you) were simply unhappy with fixing up the recipient list manually for each message. So I suggested either fixing your MUA or replacing it. You them mentioned that this isn't always possible, without providing any evidence to this. I'm not entertaining this with you and I'll give it: It's not always practical, but it's always possible, and in the United States [at the very least] it's legal too [unless you actually signed something to the contrary...]. However long you have been on this "internet thing" does not change how intelligent you are, nor how knowledgeable you are on this subject. You simply do not realize that while "trying to comfort people" you are simultaneously trying to make things difficult for other people, and in-fact, a larger number of people. * Reply-To munging destroys the ``reply-to-author'' capability. * Reply-To munging can make it impossible to reach the sender of a message. If you really want to "comfort people" - educate them. Teach them what they are doing wrong. You have such faith in your communication skills- test it, and make people understand why they need to fix up their recipient list, or learn how to fix their MUA, or _switch_ MUAs- tell them that Mutt, Mozilla, Thunderbird, PM/Mail, and a great many other MUAs exist that do the job. Let them know how this isn't about being intolerant to their typhoid-mary-windows-ways, or even about being rude, but simply that we do not want to give up critical features of Internet mail AND CONFUSE OURSELVES NEEDLESSLY because their MUA is broken [or in many cases: simply has poor documentation] But whatever you do, stop this thread, or stop being stupid. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
