It's worth noting that Sqlite is not the equivalent of Microsoft Access.
If anything, Sqlite is the equivalent of JET, the Access database
engine. In order to offer a meaningful alternative to Access, the
OpenOffice team (or someone) would need to create an excellent GUI
front-end in some languager or other, including an easy way to script
Sqlite applications.

As it happens, I'm working on an MDB->Sqlite converter that I hope to
share at some point.
