Go Mac, Yes a front end gui, fileamaker ease of use,
with the power of SQL back end.
I've always said, those whom can combined the two aspects,
together into a single package, would indeed have the market.

That is basically what Rekall is.
Rekall is a programmable, database independent, GUI client. With
Rekall you can build full featured database centric applications,
containing Forms, and Reports. Because the Python scripting engine is
embedded in Rekall, you have access to all and every Python lib
available so you application is only limit by your imagination. The
Rekall developer edition also includes a script editor and debugger,
Form and Report designers, a Visual Query builder, reusable
