Hi,

The SQLite documentantion 'Distinctive Features' says:

"If you store a single character in a VARCHAR(100)
column, then only a single byte of disk space is
consumed. (Actually two bytes - there is some overhead
at the beginning of each column to record its datatype
and length.)"

I would like to understand it better...

An extra byte is added to each record of each column
or only for each column?

Is it always one extra byte or varies acording to
record (or column) lenght?

Thanks,
Maurício.
