Thanks for your confirmation and additional comments on the situation! It's good to know that I'm interpreting the source correctly at least. :-) I suppose this must be where the "read_uncommitted" pragma came from, as that would seem to be the "workaround" for this behavior in cases where it would be acceptable to do so.
