BOOLEAN is not a different type. What Dennis meant was that integer values 0 and 1 are stored more efficiently in the new format - 1 byte instead of 2. The integer values 0 and 1 are commonly used as booleans, so we use the term "boolean type" in conversation, though in truth a boolean is really just an integer. -- D.
