Sorry I should have been more clear: The amalgamation for 3.5.8 is missing the ability to build sqlite3 shell command.
The amalgamtion is missing configure/autoconf capability as well. Where 3.5.7 had all of this. I was not so much concerned between zip vs .tar.gz format, but the content of the amalgamation.
