I was aware of Octave. I've only MATLAB a little myself -
I mainly used Mathematica, but have found that is it not viable really 
due to its cost. Universities use it a lot, but I don't think it has 
much usage in industry. A search on a job site for Mathematica skills 
shows very little, whereas MATLAB is much more sought after.

Sage is a LOT more capable than any other single open-source maths
package. The source code is around 250 MB when compressed!! It consists
of about 100 different packages (sqlite being one of them), with a
common interface (pyton language). It is web based, so results are
entered and shown in a browser.

Not that I use HP-UX much, but it would be nice to see a port to an OS 
which none of the commercial programs support.

Whilst sqlite will build on HP-UX, I suspect if a developer looked at 
the code, he/she might come up with the reason thosands of warnings are 
occurring. Just email me a user name you want IF you are are a serious 
sqlite developer.
