The most accepted way to write an application which uses the sqlite3 API is to include the .c and .h file from the amalgamation version in your project. sqlite3 is tiny. You don't get much space saved from using it as a dynamic library, and there are all sorts of problems when you have different versions of the same library on your computer. By compiling the routines into your own applications you know exactly which version each application is working with.
