I thought it was kind-of the other way around: don't have multiple threads trying to use the same connection at the same time. As long as you observe thread safety as described here: <http://www.sqlite.org/threadsafe.html> you can have any number of connections open. In checking that URL I just found this interesting discussion of SQLite and threads: <http://dev.yorhel.nl/doc/sqlaccess#Thread-local_connections> It is way above my head, and I have no idea if it's useful or even correct, but it does use some of the right words.
