Thanks all

I am running the latest version :)

I am just getting back to this and have a related problem

I have a table

create table (base int, hex text)

and I want to create a trigger such that if hex is updated (or a new
row inserted) with a text string in the form 0x12345abcd this value is
converted into an integer and copied to base.

I have tried various methods such as

CREATE TRIGGER hex_trig after insert on dates
when (select hex from dates where hex is not null)
begin
update dates set base = cast(new.hex as int);
end

but so far have drawn a blank

Can this be done?
