OK, at last I give up using CachedRowSetImpl, too. It wasn't able to retrieve BLOBs (allegedly type mismatch), but needed additional (and this time nasty) tweaking in SQLiteJDBC because it was insisting on using setTransactionIsolation() and setEscapeProcessing(), while debugging is impossible due to unavailable code :-(( Usage not recommended! So, back to classical cursor handling and ORM code...
