I am not so sure. UnicodeCol can be used not only with MySQL, but with
Firebird, Postgres, Sybase, etc. They don't have the notion of connection
encoding, as far as I know.
Well, that'd be transparent, right? Hardwired deep in SQLObject ;) No
need to retouch Firebird&friends code. (Though I'm not so sure that they
would need no audit on this issue).
