Michael I now have 2 of these LMS instances that doesn't always connect to mySB and grab the menu.
Both are Pi 3s running piCorePlayer. Both are wired. One will sometimes connect and grab the menu (3.11) the other (3.0x) steadfastly refuses every time. In the case of the one that does work sometimes LMS web ui can show no menu but a connected instance of Squeezeplay does. The logs - I have enabled debug on the network.squeezenetwork - either show it working at boot up or absolutely nothing at all.
