I'm no expert so Googled a bit to find out how to stop LMS which runs on my Vortexbox, under Linux. The method I came up with was, from a terminal window logged in as root, enter: Code: -------------------- service squeezeboxserver stop -------------------- (I checked the web interface to see that LMS was no longer active - success!) then use Filezilla to delete the two huge files Back to the terminal window and enter: Code: -------------------- service squeezeboxserver start -------------------- I'm including the steps in case anyone else stumbles on your answer and needs to find out how to do it. No doubt there are other, and perhaps easier ways! Refreshing the web interface a short while later showed LMS active once more, and it seemed to have kicked straight into a rescan with no noticeable delay. I'll have some more music to add to the library in the next day or two so will keep an eye on the time the next scan takes to get going. Meanwhile, the new artwork.db file is 52,109,312; library.db is 120,866,816; reported scan time was 40 mins.
