I use Centos7 on my ESXi 6.5 works great, I have VERY few of the issues
I see reported on the forum (Though I expect thats also true of other
users that use the more "tried and tested" linux distros) I belive there
is a an OVF template for Centos7 but I never use it, I just install from
ISO.

Even my "Full Server" (Mail, SaMBa, DNS, DHCP etc) does not use much
(CPU and RAM) resources at all.
