UPDATE: I have now created a playlist folder on Raspberry (/mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/slimserver/Cache/LMS playlists) and changed its permissions to octal 0777 (just in case!) using WINSCP. Pointed LMS at the folder, scanned, created a playlist and saved it. All good, it works. Have now transferred all m3u files from ReadyNAS playlist folder to the new one on Raspberry, rescan, all good, every working as it should! Lesson from this: even if media library is external set the playlist folder up on the pCP bootdisk.
