I recently got an Apple TV 4K and I wanted to display albums from my
photo repository in Photos on my Mac Pro. I had long ago disabled the
iTunes Home Sharing function (I forget why.) It seems the only way I
could get the photos to appear in Apple TV was to enable Home Sharing in
iTunes, and that worked. However, after I enabled Home Sharing, I
started having Logitech Media Server randomly shut down all by itself.
When I look at the server.log I don't see anything obvious. The last
entry is something like “Slim::Web::Cometd::handler (422)
errorNeedsClient”. I have to go into the Preference Pane and the LMS
server starts.
As soon as I turn off Home Sharing in iTunes, my LMS runs fine with no
shut downs.
This is unfortunate since I now have two needs which I can't have met at
the same time (my music via LMS to Squeezebox, and my photos via Home
Sharing to Apple TV.)
I'm hoping someone has a suggestion of something I can do to fix this.
FYI I'm running macOS Sierra, iTunes 12.7.0.166 and LMS 7.9.0
(r1488878280).
I typically keep the defaults in LMS, the only thing I might have done
non-default was turn off iTunes Artwork?
I have a rather large library of 23000 tracks.
