Okay, wow, thanks Robert -et al-. Just one, well, two more queries at present. I rely heavily on the plugins mentioned in my initial post, for indexing on custom tags in my music collection. Should the Pi/PCP be fully capable in this respect? (Sounds like it should be, given the speed at which it scans your tracks, Robert.) After the initial scan on my QNAP TS-112P, the "Custom Scan" plugin can then take several minutes more to run.
What does Max2Play bring to the party? Is it a horses-for-courses thing, or is it an alternative to piCorePlayer which some people prefer?
