A Raspberry Pi should work. It seems a lot of people here have LMS installed on a Pi and their music on an external source (NAS etc.)
Yep, my setup at work, too. Because of Spotty :-). I didn't get it to work on my ancient ReadyNAS. The Pi is serving stuff much faster now, and has been doing this reliably for >18months.
