That message was still on my todo list. I'm just not sure about the side effects. Some users might still expect fading to work, even in this particular case.
What you could do as a more persistent solution: create a plugin which uses LMS' internal looping protocol. Look in to the Sounds plugin: it tells the player to loop the track without streaming it after it had been loaded. Such a ProtocolHelper also allows you to disable crossfading (see line 931ff in Squeezebox.pm).
