Funny thing is: I've installed the WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) on my machine, installed Ubuntu LTS 16.04, and behavior is similar :( Being a bit strapped for time (working two jobs, moving house, ...) I'll pause my endeavors to get testing library integration a couple of weeks, to when I can get a proper test machine up and running again. Thanks for your time!
