I am also on Catalina and haven't had any problems. I just now upgraded to LMS 8.0.0
When I have had problems before with LMS not starting on a new version of Mac OS this fix has always worked for me: Sometimes there are issues with LMS on recent OSX versions and permissions on the logs folder.
