It's a bit strange. The 01/01/1970 date is reported in the Material skin, but the real date is reported in the default skin.
I have looked at the scanner log, which chimes with the scan choking on finding artwork, and in particular with Spotty artwork. I'll have a little poke around the Spotty settings, maybe disable Spotty and see if that helps.
