I use the O2 Joggler which cannot update beyond 7.9.2.

Is the image read-only or why would you not be able to update? And are you sure it's not a limitation of an outdate OpenSSL implementation on the operating system?

We could certainly find some work-around for non-SSL installations. But I believe it's the wrong way to go. It will only delay the end by a few months. As more and more services and stations are moving to https streaming, and https is becoming the de-facto standard for all kinds of web traffic, you'll hit this road-block at some other point pretty soon.

As you have a web server under your control, you could install some kind of proxying version there. Or simply replicate the file every now and then and use that URL as a secondary repository. Or just enter the repository you need from https://github.com/LMS-Community/lms-plugin-repository/blob/master/include.json
