Actually "joint stereo " and not "stereo" but shouldn';t make a difference >From mpg123 decoding - MP3 Frame header say Audio version ID it is "MPEG2.0 Level III" whereas most higher speed "normal" MP3 stream appear as "MPEG 1.0 Level III" Something is making the decoder pick up the stream wrong - if stream is being played at twice speed then decoder could think 1 chan and not two.
