WAV to PCM is not a conversion, this is bit perfect. Now of course the header is removed, but that's not altering audio. Now, we'd need to know what your DAC expects to do the update, but the header should never have been sent to the DAC anyway, although there was some bugs here in the past. Yes, things have changed to get fixed which, as I said, might come with mistakes I've made.
