For some time now I've been seeing a limit of just under 500 items/tracks in Spotty playlists on LMS. Some playlists on Spotify have close to 1k tracks, for example.
If you were using your own client ID you should be able to get more than 500 tracks. That said: LMS has a limitation of 500 by default for the play queue. You can change that in Settings/Advanced/Performance.
Still running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.4 at the moment. Spotty is v4.4.8.
