I just did a similar test. Not with my original pCP setup, but on a
comparable pCP (same Raspberry Pi model, same pCP v7.0.1, same LMS
v8.1.1).
However, this time with music stored on a USB drive attached to the
Raspberry Pi directly.

The result does not differ from what I experienced with my NAS-based
setup:
1. Played track. OK.
2. Renamed mp3 file.
3. Replayed track. Not OK. No error messages on UI (Material Skin). Just
the ones in server.log I have posted originally.
4. In UI moving away from the album containing the renamed track.
Navigating back to this album does not list the renamed song anymore (it
appears to be missing from the database). Not OK.
6. Renamed mp3 file back to original name.
7. In UI moving away from the album containing the renamed track.
Navigating back to this album still does not list the renamed song
anymore. Not OK.
8. No chance to play the track anymore. Not OK.
