Thanks for clearing that up, Vegard. It all makes sense now. It's good to know that it is possible to install and run OpenSSL v1.1+ on Jessie, although I will probably be upgrading to Stretch soon anyway. It sounds like you depend on the Tidal plugin as much as I do! Take care.
