Any idea if a fix will be released?
Yes for the idea, no for the fox. Your best bet it to get a Raspberry Pi to run LMS, and mount the NAS to it for the music files. It's covered in great detail in some thread around here.
Alternatively, if you have a Intel based DiskStation, you might be able to run LMS in a Docker container. That's been discussed here, too.
