I have no idea why anyone would think embedding a 5.8Mb png in an audio file would be a good idea! I didn't put it there, I always add cover art as cover.jpg in the album folder.
I think it would be pretty easy to sort this out globally across a music library using an app such as Bliss, but even then it would be useful to know the upper limit (and whether that is dependent on the specs of the server).
