Ok, got it working. It took reseting my squeezebox (not thru saving player settings thru squeezenetwork, but by resetting the box with the remote).
Incidentally, since I could read the username in the error message on the squeezebox, I changed my rhapsody username. Squeezebox continued to use the old username, so it was simply not being updated with any changed account info.
