They have a couple of million songs. There are many millions more they don't have. How much you'll find of what you want depends on how much of the music you're interested in is on the biggest labels. For me, nowhere near all of it, but enough for Rhapsody to be worthwhile anyway.
But, yes, the idea is access on demand to an extensive catalog. There's a clunky but usable interface from a computer. You can find the things you want there and then play them on the Squeezebox. You can also, in principle, skip the computer and hunt up things with the Squeezebox remote, but this is slow and not much fun. Things that fit into the popular Artist/Album/Track model are relatively easy to find and also relatively well represented. Contrariwise, I had a harder time finding the Brahms horn trio. Is the artist "Brahms" or "Johannes Brahms" or "Some Horn Player"? And it doesn't take up a whole CD, so what albums might it be on? And it's three tracks, so you have to get all three in the right order. If you want the Stones, you likely won't have this problem. There are probably free trials (or just cough up the $10 for a month's subscription), which will give you a better idea of how you like it than reading even such eloquent descriptions as mine. If you want to get an idea of what is available and what isn't, you could try searching the Real Music Store, which is the same concern. The offerings are not precisely the same but I have found a pretty high correlation. -- tom permutt ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tom permutt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1893 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36130 _______________________________________________ squeezenetwork mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/squeezenetwork
