For most of the BBC streams there are two media streams - RealAudio and WMA. RadioTime provides the WMA URLs whereas AlienBBC provides RealAudio.
The WMA streams for R1, r2,R3 & R4 are not very unreliable even for users in the UK. The RealAudio live streams are very reliable worldwide.
