Actually one user was so disturbed when SN went down (and the screen
momentarily went to full brightness to tell him it was down) he
threatened to sue!  By far the most amusing post I've ever read.  BTW
that brightness issue has been rectified.

Being on all the time is what's required if you want it to start
playing music immediately off SN or SC.  Otherwise it has to
initialize, login, etc.  It can do this, it'll login automatically to
the last server it was connected to, but it takes a little while.
