Here's my problem. I have SlimServer installed on my personal desktop
which communicates wirelessly with my everything else in the house. I
decided my music collection was too big for my personal machine, so
purchased a NAS device (D Link DNS-323 with 2 1TB WD drives) which is
connected directly to my wireless router, which is right off my cable
modem as it comes into the house. This drive is mapped on my personal
machine as K:. My music was previously on my internal J: drive.
SlimServer used to find all my music fine on the J: drive. It does not
recognize that the K: drive exists (I get a classic "Ooops" error
message). What's weird is that I decided to reinstall SlimServer.
During install it asked me to select the drive and folder where your
music and playlists are stored. The browse button let me browse right
to the right K: folder, yet still didn't find the drive when I said
rescan. What's the deal? Can SlimServer not connect to / scan drives
over a wireless network? Must the drive be physically part of the
computer where SlimServer is loaded? Actually, I even tried
reinstalling SlimServer onto the NAS device. That didn't work either.
Ideas? I would really think a lot of people store their music files in
this fashion. There must be a way to make this work. Thanks, Lloyd
