When I first heard about MP3tunes, I thought the concept of their
service was excellent.

I currently have 30,855 songs (of which about 21,000 are in FLAC)
stored on a 750GB HDD, and I have 3 750Gb HDDs which I use for
backuping my music files, including one which I keep away from home. I
never want to have to re-rip my music collection!!!

On further investigation I discovered that MP3tunes do not accept FLAC
files. I e-mailed them asking if FLAC files would be allowed in the
future. The reply I got said that currently they allow lossy formats
such as MP3 and OGG, but they have no plans to allow any lossless
formats such as FLAC. Apparently there is no demand for lossless
formats.

I suppose the other problem with lossless formats is the time it would
take to upload 21,000 FLAC files plus 9,500 MP3s!!!!!

It would have been useful to use as an extra backup and also would have
given me access to my music even when I am away from home.
