Having safe, secure, reliable control of local files from an internet-based service is challenging, to say the least, and won't be trivially solved. Architecturally speaking, there a lot to do before we could offer the functionality you're describing. What we have done at this point is partnered with MP3tunes, which allows you to have an online music locker where your personal collection is stored. You can then access that via SqueezeNetwork. The added benefit is that you can access that same content from other locations (your office or mobile phone, for example) as well. They do restrict you to lossy, compressed formats only (MP3, WMA, and OGG) but they don't restrict the bitrate. It does require their premium service, which is $40/year, but we have arranged a free 60-day trial so you can try it out. You may want to sign up for the trial and upload a portion of your collection to see if this would work for you.
