Hi,

This morning my SB3 and Boom were possessed!

Both started playing backup alarms (beeps) and having a mind of their
own. Turning one off (via power button on IR remote), started the other
playing. This is not what is programmed or what I expected and is new
behavior.

Boom is set to have a Monday - Friday 6AM alarm with WBUR/NPR radio as
the alarm sound. SB3 is set to have Monday - Friday 7AM alarm with
WBUR/NPR radio as the alarm sound. The SB3 and Boom are both connected
to SqueezeNetwork, they are Synced to each other, they are in different
rooms, but can be heard from one room to the other.

The alarm settings described above worked fine; Boom would play WBUR at
6AM, end at 7AM then SB3 would start playing at 7AM for an hour. This
weekend I changed some settings - I chose alarm fade in "yes" and alarm
timeout to 90 minutes for Boom.

Today with the new settings, the Boom started WBUR (internet connection
OK) at 6AM but at 7AM both the Boom and SB3 started beeping. Trying IR
power OFF on the Boom shut both Boom and SB3 down, except that the SB3
remotely restarted almost immediately with beeps. IR Power ON for
Boom, then remotely shut the SB3 off (inverse of what I might expect).
A few more IR power OFF to both Boom and SB3 allowed selecting WBUR
favorite to play (internet connection OK).

It seems to me that there is a race condition involving synced
Squeezebox devices with overlapping alarms. The devices fall back to
beeps, and lose their minds!

I hope you can investigate - my wife is not so tolerant of self
actualizing electronic devices as I am.

Thanks,

FYI
Race Conditon: A race condition or race hazard is a flaw in a system or
process whereby the output and/or result of the process is unexpectedly
and critically dependent on the sequence or timing of other events. The
term originates with the idea of two signals racing each other to
influence the output first. - Wikipedia
