Here is the solution (I hope this will help others, apparantly I'm not the only one with this problem ;try a forum search with PIN; it's outrageous this is not explained in the manual).
This how to find your player pin when you bought a brand new squeeze box duet. - First you NEED to have squeeze center installed on your PC. - Afterwards turn your controller on and choose as music source the squeeuze center (if you choose squeeze network it wil freeze = the bug !) - Now perform a software update for your controller. (note: after this update your player PIN is stil NOT displayed under the settings !) - After the software is updated choose as music source the squeezenetwork; now and only now your player pin is displayed on the controlller. I hope this helps ! I find it outrageous this is not mentioned in the set up manual of the device. This device costs 349 euro and it simply does not work out of the box ....
