If your network is all wired, your Squeezebox Controller can make an "ad hoc" wifi connection to the Receiver, essentially connecting to SqueezeCenter and/or SqueezeNetwork through your Receiver's wired connection. I do not know how the ad hoc wifi is secured, nor how well the Controller can "roam" between different "wired" Receivers. The Receiver cannot act as a normal wifi Access Point -- no Squeezebox can. The Receiver can only provide an ad hoc wifi connection to a Squeezebox Controller, and I believe it is the only Squeezebox that can do so. I suspect this is mainly so the Duet bundle is usable for single-Squeezebox installs that don't already have wifi APs.
